The Don

Titled after its owner, Don Hundredmark, the Don Hotel was completed in 1929 in Wilmington, CA.  Built to cater to tourists ferrying to and from Catalina Island, the 135 room hotel had a suite reserved full-time for publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst.

The building became derelict by the 80s, and in the late 90s the city allowed it to be converted into senior care housing. The original sign bearing “DON HOTEL” was taken down and replaced with “THE DON” in 2000.
